Hello Blog friends,
I am very excited to share with you some news.
I am recently spending a lot more time at my home in Budapest which is finally giving me the chance to develop all the discoveries made in the last couple of months. A moment I have been waiting for quite a while. Those who know me, the know how much I have been waiting for this.
It has been a crazy couple of months, crazy positively.
I met many people that I shared the space with. To mention some: Magalie Lanriot and Alex Allan, whom I co-taught some workshops and shared some of my Rope Manipulation research with. Other people along the way.. my amazing mentor Ana Sanchez-Colberg who is helping me to write the first Rope Manipulation Handbook set for publication in 2026. Alejandra Deza with whom I have the best in depth conversations and Betka Ticha who is always ready to try my new tasks and give me feedack. Ben Richter who shared with me his very interesting research on manipulation and with whom I am having very stimulating conversations. A massive thanks goes to the many students who attended my workshops and classes from across Europe and the US. These months have been beyond inspiring and I am back home with a suitcase full of material I am so excited about.
I discovered a lot of new tools which I developed into new tasks which I am still and forever developing further.
I began to explore the concept of weight in the air, not only in relation to the ground, but most especially in relation to the rope. Rope as my ground. And gravity as something we play with and challenge istead of giving all weight to it.
I am investigating the space inside a wraps or tight knot. A small space we can move in and transform from the inside.
I started to make parallels between knots on the rope and knots in the body and taking this notion as a guide to movement research. Knots as the key holding potential for direction, orientation, and choice.
And with this, there is more.
Writing the book is being a very strong experience. It is testing my knowledge and amplifying it in a way I did not expect. Verbalising it through writing and re-organising to share it with an audience is bringing clarity into it and questioning coming from it is taking me to newer places.
I would love to expand on the points I made and tell you more but.. there is another news. I opened a Patreon account. As you all know it, it is not easy to be an artist and to fund your work. I didn't know what Patreon was until I went to the US in February and a lot of my students mentioned it. I think it is amazing to have a platform like this, where people support your work (which usually we do for free, like in the caseeof the blog ) in exchange for material. Secondly, having qeekly deadlines is already pushing me to create more and more content as I need to share weekly for the members who decided to support me in this journey.
If you are interested in my work and you would like to support what I do and want to be part of this journey, please check this page out and join us! I would love to expand this community, the more we do, the more I will share as well. patreon.com/GaiaSantuccio
I won't post as much here anymore, but I will keep this space alive. Sharing things at times, news and of course, feel free to comment still. I am always up for conversation and exchange .
I will keep this space alive, as I also like the idea that anyone interested in this work can have a virtual window to it, looking at the first steps that took me there in this ever evolving process.
Love,
Gaia
